Sue Franklin McKenzie, 75

ROME, Ga.—Memorial service for Mrs. Sue Franklin McKenzie, 75, of Rome, formerly of Swainsboro, will be held Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Rome. Private interment will take place earlier at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. She died late Monday afternoon, Sept. 29, 2008 at a local hospital.
McKenzie was born July 16, 1933 in Ozark, Ala. the daughter of the late Joe and Sarah Banks Franklin. She graduated from Rome High School in 1951 and was a cum laude graduate of Brenau College in 1955. She held many class offices while at Brenau and was president of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After returning to Rome in 1988, she became active in the Xavier Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the First United Methodist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Benton McKenzie and their two sons, Lt. Col. Neel McKenzie (USMC), his wife Lisa and their children, Cristen, Casie, and Connor of Stafford, Va., and John and Mary McKenzie of St. Simon’s Island; and her siblings, Annette Jackson of Athens and Robert Franklin of Greensboro, N.C.

Daniel’s Funeral Home in Rome had charge of arrangements.
