Donald “Toby” Wells, 75

Funeral services for Donald “Toby” Wells, age 75, of Metter, will be Friday, August 29th, at 11 a.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Grady Collins and Rev. Thomas Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. He died Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at his residence after a brief illness.

Mr. Wells was born in Emanuel County, a US Air Force veteran, and retired after 40 years from Twin City Manufacturing. He was a farmer, raised sugar cane and cooked and sold syrup. He was a member and treasurer of Scarboro Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh Ezekiel Wells and Alma Moore Wells, a brother, Pete Wells and a sister, Sarah Wells.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Oglesby Wells of Metter; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Morgan Trapnell of Metter; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donny Wells and Tamie Rigdon of Metter and Tway and Lisa Wells of Metter; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Julia Mae and Don Morris of Swainsboro, Jackie and Bobby Ray Collins of Twin City and Martha Wiggins of Metter; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Carolyn Wells of Ellabell, Ga. and Johnny and Faye Wells of Metter; seven grandchildren, Justin Wells, Tracie Wells, Amy Wells, Will Trapnell, Anna Trapnell, Rachel Rigdon and Matt Rigdon all of Metter.

Pallbearers are Mike Wells, Tim Wells, Ray Collins, Neal Clay, Jessie A. Durden, Dustin Durden, John David Durden, Larry Durden and Rusty Simmons.
