Miss Lane, Mr. Collins united in double ring ceremony

Miss Kelly Lynette Lane and Mr. Bryson Avery Collins were united in a double ring ceremony October 20, 2007, 5 p.m., at Canoochee Baptist Church. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Grady Collins, uncle of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Johnny and Donna Lane of Canoochee. The groom is the son of James and Betty Collins of Metter and the late Hazel Collins.

A 15 branch arch candelabra, with spiral candelabra adorning each side, encircled the central arrangement at the alter. The candelabra was intertwined with springeri fern. The central arrangement was made of curly willow, bells of Ireland, liatris, yellow asiatic lillies, red rover mums, burgundy hypericum berries, viking daisies, green button pom poms, springeri fern and solidago. The beautiful arrangement sat atop a white Grecian column. The alter area was also adorned with four lovely Boston ferns, placed on white Grecian columns. A memory candle was placed on a white Grecian column and accented with ivy, springeri fern and sword ferns. The candle was in memory of the bride’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. “Buck” McNeely; the groom’s mother, Hazel C. Collins; the groom’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Collins and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Collins; and Mr. John R. Roberts. A white Grecian column also held a unity candle adorned with ivy, springeri and sword ferns. Pews were marked with southern smilax and apple red bows.

Mrs. Glenda Riner of Swainsboro, pianist, provided the music for the ceremony. Mrs. Jodi Marsh of Canoochee, soloist, sang “The Parents Prayer,” and Mrs. Rhett Blount of Canoochee, soloist, sang “Lost in this Moment.”

The beautiful bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, was radiant in an A-line, white halter style gown with beaded lace appliqu├ęs and a satin skirt. The chapel train was accented with a six inch beaded lace hem. Her headpiece was a tiara of rhinestones complete with a waist length veil with tiny sequins.

Miss Hope Lane, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Brandi Hood of Kite, sister of the bride; Mrs. Misty McKenzie of Swainsboro, sister of the bride; Miss Jenna Dailey of Millen, friend of the bride; Mrs. Brooke Marsh of Canoochee, cousin of the bride; Mrs. Jodi Marsh of Canoochee, cousin of the bride and Mrs. Jill Atkinson of Garfield, cousin of the bride. Jr. bridesmaid was Miss Macy McKenzie of Swainsboro, niece of the bride.

Maid of honor and bridesmaids wore strapless, apple red, floor length gowns made of taffeta. Jr. bridesmaid wore a spaghetti strap, floor length, white gown, accented with apple red at the top of the chest and the hemline.

Serving as flower girls were Miss Erin Hood of Kite, niece of the bride, and Miss Ansley McQuaig of Canoochee, cousin of the bride. They wore white, tea length gowns of chiffon with organza overlay. They carried lace accented baskets with white ribbon on the handle, filled with red rose petals to throw.

Mr. Brad Collins of Soperton, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. John Lane of Canoochee, brother of the bride; Mr. Jay Webb of Twin City, friend of the groom; Mr. Gabe Cliett of Metter, friend of the groom; Mr. Jeffrey Hilderbrandt of Metter, friend of the groom and Mr. Patrick Hendrix of Statesboro, friend of the groom. Mr. Mason McKenzie of Swainsboro, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer.

For her daughters special day, Mrs. Lane chose a lovely champagne, two piece, tea length gown with beaded accents.

Mrs. Collins chose a baby blue, two piece gown with beaded accents.

RECEPTION

A reception hosted by the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lane, was held at their lovely home in Canoochee.

Miss Joeley Mimbs of Kite, niece of the bride, greeted guests as they arrived and invited them to sign the bride’s registry.

Two large white tents placed in an “L” shape provided the reception area. At the entrance were scarecrows dressed in a tux and wedding gown, along with hay bales on each side, accented with fall mums, pumpkins, gourds and cornstalks. A table holding the bride’s book was set up under the entrance tent, along with a portrait of the bride on a tall easel, all the food tables and the bride and groom’s cakes.

Food tables were decorated with small pumpkins, fall leaves, potted mums and a centerpiece. The centerpiece was a huge pumpkin holding a colorful fall arrangement.

The food consisted of barbecue pork, dinner rolls, nutty fingers, cheese balls with crackers, cheese straws, pigs in a blanket, meatballs in sauce, date nut balls, fruit and dip, sliced pecan rolls, open face sandwiches, crab salad, spinach dip and pasta salad. Sweet tea and punch were served in sterling punch bowls.

The bride’s cake, baked by Mrs. Patti Hendley of Twin City, sat on a sterling cake riser. It was four tiered with each layer being supported by white Grecian columns and each layer topped with fresh cut fall flowers. The top layer held the traditional bride and groom. It was placed on a round table covered with a white tablecloth and lace overlay. As the bridesmaids entered, their bouquets were placed on the table around the cake.

The groom’s cake, baked by Mrs. Clair Donaldson of Metter, was a square three layer chocolate cake decorated with police paraphernalia. It was held by a sterling cake riser placed on a round table covered with a white tablecloth. Police paraphernalia decorated the table as well.

Miss Megan Harrison of Garfield and Miss Taylor Weatherford of Twin City served the bride and groom’s cakes.

Under the adjoining tent, round tables and chairs were set up for guests. Each table was decorated with a hurricane globe holding a white candle accented with fall leaves. Placed under the tent were hay bales and potted mums. At one end, a stage for the band and a dance floor were set up.

Both tents had paper lanterns hanging for lighting.

Miss Collins chose dressy denim jeans and a black 3/4 length sleeve sweater for her departing attire.

The couple went to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tenn. for their honeymoon. They will make their home in Metter.

REHEARSAL DINNER

The groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Collins, hosted a rehearsal dinner October, 19, 2007 at the Jack Strickland community building in Metter.

The bride chose a red square neck 3/4 length sleeve chiffon blouse with black slacks and matching accessories.

Tables were covered with white tablecloths, accented with grapevine wreaths lying down the center, with fall flowers and berries surrounding it. Hurricane globes with burning candles were placed in the center of the wreaths.

The honored couple and their guests were served grilled ribeye steaks with all the trimmings and a variety of homemade desserts.

The bride and groom presented gifts to their attendants at that time.
