Lane participates in Vidalia Onion Run

Beth Lane of Swainsboro participated in the 31st Annual 5K and 10K Vidalia Onion Run on Saturday, April 26, 2008, in Vidalia, Georgia. She won 1st place in her age group in the 5K.

Jaxon Nathaniel Green

Jaxon is the 2 year old son of Christina Cordry and Randy Green, both of Swainsboro. Maternal grandparents are Leisa McGee and Jimmy Simmons, both of Swainsboro. Paternal grandparents are Tammy Green, Darrell Saylor and David Green, all of Stillmore. Jaxon is the great grandson of Judy Jackson of Swainsboro and M.D. and Ann Akridge of Stillmore.

    Smith Grove to hold anniversary and revival

    Smith Grove Missionary Baptist Church is having their 93rd anniversary and Spring Revival May 14-16 and 18. Guest minister will be Richard A. Lawrence of Summertown.     Spivey Pond House was the setting for a handyman shower honoring Peyton Frye and his fiancée, Brooke Youmans, Friday, April 11. Guests were invited into the pond house and offered a variety of appetizers and beverages served by Alex and Martha Grindler.

    Smoking cessation classes begin May 5

    Emanuel Medical Center is taking steps to help individuals kick the smoking habit by offering FreshStart Smoking Cessation classes. The next new session will begin Monday, May 5. The classes are held each Monday (with the exception of every 5th Monday) from 12:15 – 1:15 PM. Mr. Bob Neil, LPC is the facilitator.     Funeral for Mrs. Annie Hood Bedgood, 79 was held Wednesday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Webb officiating and Revs. Morris Brantley and Ron Rawlings assisting. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Bedgood died Monday April 28 at her home after an extended illness.
