    Eighth grade Georgia history classes at Emanuel County Institute were visited recently by Judy Womack, member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Fred Womack, who reenacted Corporal Clavius Phillips, a member of the Chatham Artillery.

    Mrs. Womack gave a “living history” presentation on Phoebe Pember, a Charleston, SC., native who dedicated herself to doing everything possible to relieve the suffering of soldiers during the Civil War. According to … Read More

    Cotton is a black, male Chow puppy who is friendly and playful with other animals.

    To adopt him, call 237- 4040. A $32 adoption fee will cover cost of spaying or neutering (required by Georgia law) on dogs up to 50 pounds. Pets over 50 pounds will have a cost increase. Call the Shelter for more information.

    Farm Bureau members visit capitol

    Emanuel County Farm Bureau members traveled to Atlanta, Feb. 12 to participate in Georgia Farm Bureau Day at the Capitol. While there, the members visited with two of their district state officials, Rep. Butch Parrish and Sen. Jack Hill

    The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life opened a Relay store for the first time. Items for sale at the Relay store included frisbees, lighted yo-yos, hats, flashlights, Koozie, fanny packs, aprons, relay tattoos, large house flags, license plates, sweatshirts and garden flags with the Relay for Life logo. It was located at First National Bank and Trust Company, right across from Tiger Field.

    BBQ plate sale

    A barbecue chicken plate sale will be held Saturday, April 5 in the parking lot of Harvey’s Supermarket from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Each plate is $5 and consists of BBQ chicken, potato salad, green beans, bread and a slice of cake.
