One of the most important things taught by coaches is sportsmanship. From recreation leagues all the way to the NFL, sportsmanship is always important. Good conduct was forgotten last Friday night by Dooly County players in a horrible display of poor sportsmanship. Obscene gestures, foul language, and throwing penalty flags back at the officials is what the players and fans of Emanuel County Institute encountered. Dooly County had to be forced to leave the field after the game ended.

We are extremely proud of all our local teams and the good sportsmanship they have displayed throughout the season and playoffs. Our coaches make sportsmanship a priority and they are to be commended for their efforts.

The David Emanuel Academy Eagles came up short of the playoffs this year, but they held their heads up and displayed dignity on the playing field. The same can be said about the Swainsboro Tigers, a good team that did make the playoffs. When the Tigers were beaten, they met their opponent at midfield after the contest and offered congratulations.

Now is the time for all of us to rally around our Emanuel County Institute. They play in Twin City Friday night against Warren County. Go out to the game and support your Bulldogs!
