Child Care Resource and Referral staff and area child care providers recently attended the 41st Annual Georgia Association on Young Children (GAYC) Annual Conference and GAYC Awards Banquet in Duluth. GAYC seeks to encourage, recognize, and support individuals and programs working to improve the education, health, and welfare of Georgia’s young children.
Virginia Pierce, a Family Child Care provider in Dublin, received the Above and Beyond award, a special award sponsored by Georgia Child Care Resource and Referral Association (GACCRRA), at this year’s GAYC Awards Banquet. This award is given to one Family Child Care Provider and one Child Care Center Provider each year. These are providers who have exhibited skill in including children with special needs into their programs with their typically developing peers. Missy Collins, CCR&R Inclusion Coordinator, stated “Child Care Resource and Referral was so proud to be able to present the Above and Beyond Award to one of our own Family Child Care Providers, Virginia Pierce. This award was only given to two providers in the whole state of Georgia and she was one of the recipients. She is a wonderful example for not only inclusive child care but what raising the standard for quality child care in Georgia is all about.”
