SWAINSBORO—Funeralfor Edward Harrison Smith, 69, was held Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Peebles Curry-Durden Mortuary with Rev. Sammy Hall officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Church Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at Heritage Healthcare Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Smith was a native of Emanuel County, a retired farmer and logger and a member of Spring Hill Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ollie Mae Stafford Smith.
Survivors include five daughters, Julia Atkinson, Brenda Conley, Ollie Griffin, and Linda Myers all of Swainsboro; and Nellie Green of San Mateo, Fla.; a son, David Smith of Swainsboro; three sisters, Edna Brown of Twin City; Joyce Lumpkin of Adrian; and Lillian Bishop of Augusta; a brother, Jimmy Smith of Augusta; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Moscow Dawkins, Kenneth Anderson, Mann Marsh, Johnny Turner, Ryan Daniel and Dean Moore. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
