Senior Dannielle Holland went two for three, including a triple, as David Emanuel Academy rolled by Curtis Baptist 10- 3 in North Augusta, South Carolina last Tuesday. The win was the first for the season and the first for new head coach Kristi Garrett as the Lady Eagles improved to 1-1.

Holland also scored one of the team’s ten runs and stole a base. Freshmen Laura Cardell and Jessica Wimberly each had two hits in four trips to the plate while Sophomore Gabrielle Story kept the Curtis Baptist hitters at bay with a two hit seven strikeout performance in her first start of the season on the mound. Story, Erin Flynt, Cheyenne Duckworth and Kellie Canady all contributed a hit to the non-region win.

In game one of the season, DEA lost a tough 8-7 contest to visiting Thomas Jefferson Academy thanks in part to four untimely errors. Cheyenne Duckworth led the offensive effort with two hits in three trips to the plate. Laura Cardell and Gabrielle Story each had two hits while Bonnie McNeely, Dannielle Holland, Jessica Wimberly and Kellie Canady each had one hit in the losing effort.
