A fun-filled day with kids’ activities, prizes, giveaways, and refreshments will usher in the back-to-school season at local area Goody’s stores. The seventh annual “Kid’s Fest” will take place on Saturday, Aug. 4, beginning at 8 a.m.

Each Goody’s store will have snacks and face painting. Individual locations have arranged their own exciting line up of children’s activities, such as coloring, games, contests, and demonstrations. (Check with the store nearest you for specific details.)

Customers will receive a free graffiti-print knapsack with any purchase from the kids’ department, and everyone is welcome to pick up free stickers and book covers. Every shopper will also receive 15 percent off any purchase of kids’ clothes, with just a few exclusions. Customers may register to win a battery operated, ride-on John Deere toy tractor, which will be given away at every store.

Each store will also hold a “Design Your Own Tshirt” contest, open to kids up to 12 years of age. Youngsters can draw their own design for a kid’s tee, and the best girl’s and best boy’s design will actually be produced and sold in select Goody’s stores next summer. The winners will receive a $500 Goody’s giftcard and recognition as the designer on each T-shirt tag.

And parents will want to check out the “Kids’ Model Search” contest, where one boy and one girl (age 12 or under) will win a trip to New York to model for an upcoming Goody’s sales circular. Official entry forms for these contests can be obtained at any Goody’s store.
