The Governor’s Task Force (GTF) Marijuana Eradication Team conducted an operation in Emanuel County on Thursday, June 14. The GTF uses helicopters to fly over the rural areas in order to detect marijuana crops growing in wooded land. The GTF comes to the area each year as part of a continued effort to aid the Sheriff’s Office in combating illegal drugs in Emanuel County. Emanuel County Sheriff’s Deputies, East Central Georgia Drug Task Force Agents, Georgia State Troopers, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agents and Department of Natural Resources Rangers participated in the search. If anyone has information about suspected drug activity, call the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office at 237-7526 or East Central Georgia Drug Task Force at 289-8831. The caller can remain anonymous.
