Boatright attends dance convention

Brooke Boatright, dance instructor for Southern Dance Connection in Swainsboro, recently attended the New York City Dance Alliance Convention and Teacher Workshop at the World Congress Center in Atlanta.

While attending, she took master dance classes in tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop. Among some of the instructors were Joe Lanteri, who has produced directed and choreographed countless live industrial shows, soap operas, MTV and Off- Broadway Show. He teaches in NYC at Steps On Broadway and The Julliard School; Danny Wallace, who has performed and toured with Tap Dogs and been featured in the movie “America’s Sweethearts” with Julia Roberts and numerous industrials such as Coca Cola, Audi & Compaq. He currently teaches in NYC at Broadway Dance Center; and Andy Blankenbuehler, who choreographs on Broadway and has danced on Broadway in Fosse, Contact, Saturday Night Fever, Guys and Dolls and West Side Story. Also instructing hip hop classes were Travis and Ivan, two of the stars from the FOX dance show competition “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Boatright has been with the Southern Dance Connection as a student and now a teacher for a total of 20 years under the direction of Melonie Thompson Jones.
