George W. Bell, 74

SWAINSBORO—Funeral for George W. Bell, 74, was held Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Hawhammock Baptist Church with Rev. Cail Pressey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Bell was born in Emanuel County and had lived here most of his life except for the years he served in the military. He served in the U.S. Air Force for nine years and in the U.S. Army. He was a volunteer at Emanuel Medical Center and a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was a member of Elmo Youngblood Sunday School Class and was retired from United States Postal Service.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Bell of Swainsboro; three daughters, Kay Winters (Rob) of Phoenix, Ariz.; Monica Wren of Savannah; and Diane Waters of Swainsboro; a son, Timmy Bell (Jane) of Swainsboro; two brothers, James Bell of Swainsboro; and Lewis Bell of Metter; 11 grandchildren, Rene Carson (Jeremy), Caleb, David and Paul Winters, Tammy and Katlyn Bell, Wesley and Sable Wren, Senior Airman Justin Wren, {Paige and Brook Waters; a step grandchild, Kelli Scarboro; two greatgrandchildren, Zaylee Morris and Landon Carson; and two step-greatgrandchildren, Jace and Kayle Scarboro.

Pallbearers were Jeff Glover, Gil Bell, Keith Bell, Jimmy Glover, Chad Glover and Donnie Alexander. Honorary pallbearers were active and inactive deacons of Hawhammock Baptist Church and members of Elmo Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to Hawhammock Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Bell.

Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
