Peebles-Curry purchased by SCI

Service Corporation International, out of Houston, Texas, has purchased Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary in Swainsboro. SCI purchased Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary on Nov. 28 from the Alderwoods Group. The Federal Trade Commission approved this purchase and SCI will pay all Alderwoods stock holders $20 a share for this transaction.

Service Corp. International is the largest funeral provider in the U.S., now owning over 1,900 funeral homes. The funeral homes that have been purchased by SCI in South Georgia are Peebles-Curry-Durden, Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home in Sylvania and Murchison Funeral Home in Vidalia.
