    Reginald Luke Lanier has been selected to receive the Staple Cotton Scholarship awarded by the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences for the 2006-2007 academic year.

    Former Swainsboro resident Charles E. Perry, Jr., P.E. assumed the duties President and CEO by the Board of Directors of EMC Engineering Services, Inc. on Oct. 17. He was elected to that position on Sept. 20.

    Peachy Spiced Cider

    From the Kitchen of Shaun & Shan.

    3 cups peach juice

    2 cups apple juice

    4 orange slices, 1/4 inch thick, cut in half

    1 teaspoon chopped candied ginger

    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    Place peach juice and apple juice in water reservoir of coffee maker. Arrange orange slices loosely in paper filter in filter basket. Sprinkle remaining ingredients over oranges. Brew cider. Prep Time:10 min. Makes:8
