Tigers continue to win in basketball

Tuesday, Dec. 13
The Swainsboro Tigers traveled to Dublin to take on the Raiders of West Laurens. The game was close throughout, but unfortunately Swainsboro could not bring home the win. The Raiders were victorious 68-67. Leading scorers for the Tigers were senior guard Reginald Beniefield with 21 points, junior forward Derrick Smith with 19 points, junior point guard Neal David with 12 points, and Jamail “Mail Man” Turner with nine points.
Friday, Dec. 16
Swainsboro High School played host to the Bulldogs of Emanuel County Institute. The stands were filled with fans from the entire county. Swainsboro won the previous match-up between the two teams by the final score of 65-60. Swainsboro was able to maintain the lead for virtually all four quarters. The Tigers won the game 66-54 and swept the Bulldogs for the 2005-2006 season. Smith lead the black and gold squad in scoring with 14 points. Other Tigers performing well in the scoring department were senior Detronne Douglas with 13 points, senior postplayer Solomon Buie with 12 points and the consistent junior, Turner with 10 points.
Saturday, Dec. 17
The SHS Tigers traveled to play the Warriors of Jefferson County in Louisville. The Warriors defeated the Tigers earlier this season by a score of 65-63. Swainsboro was ready to return favor and that they did. The Tigers were able to leave Louisville on Saturday night with a 69-63 victory. Leading scorers for the SHS squad were Turner and Buie who both had 18 points each and Smith finished the game with 12 points.
The Tigers are off this week. They will continue play on Dec. 26. They will be playing in the Holiday Classic in Hinesville, which is from Dec. 26 through Dec. 30.
