    Emanuel County Commissioners James Canady and Desse Davis were honored recently for completing the nationally recognized Certified Commissioners Advanced Program (CCAP). They were awarded certificates of recognition at a ceremony at the Fall Policy Conference of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) in Atlanta in September.

    Students and faculty of East Georgia College recently traveled to Gulfport, Miss. to help out in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The group went to a high school that had been converted into a military volunteer command center.   • ‘Treasures from trash’ featured at Library

    Proof of the saying, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is on display at Franklin Memorial Library. Students from Mrs. Dabney Edenfield’s art class at Swainsboro High School have created “Treasures From Trash.” Some of the materials utilized include plastic bags, bubble gum, used Post-It Notes, empty cans, “junk” mail and dryer lint.
