ECHD holds regular meeting

Emanuel County Board of Health held its regularly scheduled board meeting on Sept. 14.
Board of Health members present were Dr. James Ray, chairman; Wilbur Stephens, vice-chairman, Keith Thompson, county commissioner; Ray Woods; Butch Frye, superintendent of Emanuel County Schools; and Kim Overstreet. Health Department staff present were Lisa Chester, RN, county nurse manager; Denice Kirby, office manager; and Robert Michael, Environmental Health Specialist III. East Central Health District staff present was John Nolan, deputy director. Also attending was Bob Via, administrator of Emanuel Medical Center.
Robert Michael, Environmental Health Specialist III, briefed the Board on the Georgia Smoke Free Air Act of 2005.
Lisa Chester, RN informed the Board of the relocation of the Twin City Clinic. The Board approved to begin charging for chest x-rays related to positive skin tests. They also approved charging monthly assessments related to taking prophylactic medicines related to positive skin tests. TB cases, suspects, and contacts will not be charged. Chester also gave a budget update.
Bob Via updated the Board on the progress of the hospital’s construction.
Jon Nolan, Deputy Director, discussed the Medicaid Care Management Organization.
