Gov. Sonny Perdue has signed a bill that will ban smoking in most public places

in the state of Georgia. The ban will be in effect July 1.

The only places smokers will now be permitted to smoke in public will be bars

and restaurants that do not admit minors; workplace smoking areas with separate

air handling systems; and hotel and motel rooms set aside for smokers. Those violating

the new law face fines of $100 to $500.
