JROTC cadets from high

schools all over Georgia

converged on Fort Gordon,

Georgia for one week of

summer camp. Emanuel

County Institute sent six

cadets for leadership training

this year. They were

Brian Costlow, Kimberly

Foreman, Jason Kirkland,

Nakisha Watts, Judith

Atkins and Tiffany Collins.

Their training began

with rappelling off a 40foot tower, rope bridges,

leadership reaction course,

first aid, land navigation,

and water safety survival.

The days were packed

with activities designed to

provide leadership opportunities

for each cadet.

Respect for others,

teamwork, and maintaining

a positive attitude were

the hallmarks of camp. The

summer camp provided

the training to those cadets

at each high school who

will be the leaders at their

high school for the upcoming

year. Camp is also a

learning tool to instill good

citizenship in all cadets,

which is the primary mission

of JROTC. The JROTC

class is open to all students

and provides technical

credit for their high school

diploma.
