Oak Park News: Pendleton Creek to have homecoming June 5

By EUDENE PEEBLES Area CorrespondentPendleton Creek Community Church will have homecoming Sunday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m. Local singers will sing and guest preacher will be Rev. Allen Meeks. Alunch will follow morning service.

There will be no afternoon or night service. Pastor is Rev.

Gary Roberson.

Corinth Free Will Baptist Church will have Bible School May 29-June 3 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Pastor is Rev.

Tim Brantley.

We would like to wish a special happy birthday to Geneva Waters June 8. Hope she has a great day.

We would like to extend our sympathy to the family of David McCumbers. May God bless and comfort them in their bereavement.

Oasis Church of God and several churches are sponsoring a Memorial Day sing Saturday, May 28 from 6-10 p.m.

This even will be an outdoor event on the football field of Toombs Central Elementary School. Featured will be The Suwanee River Boys, n His Steps, Five From the Heart and Pentecostal Expressions.

Bring your lawn chairs. Admission will be $10 per car regardless of the number. Barbecue and old-fashioned lemonade and other confections will be available.

Jesslyn Collins was Saturday night guest of her grandparents, Don and Trasonja Carroll and aunts Julie and Jennifer.

Congratulations and best wises to all the graduates of Swainsboro High School, who graduated Saturday.

Among those were Monika McLendon, Amanda Beasley and Timothy Williamson.

We have a number of people on the sick list in need of your prayers: Billy Curl, Wanda Emanuel, Estol Williamson, Lil Mickey Lindsey, Margaret Powell, Joyce “Beasley” Oliva, John Hayes and Don Paradice.

There will be a special Memorial Day service to honor Charlie W. Wickstrom Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Shady Baptist Church Cemetery by the VFW Post 10229 of Mt. Vernon. They will honor all veterans. Refreshments will be served in the church social hall.

Wayne and Karen Wickstrom and Mrs. Dorothy Wickstrom visited Estol Williamson in the VAHospital in Dublin Friday night.

Mt. Shady Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, June 5 at 10:45 a.m. Pastor is Rev. B.LHorne.

Snowhill Church of God near Glenwood will have homecoming Sunday at 11 a.m. Featured singers will be The Holcombs of Savannah.

Guest speaker will be Rev.

Larry Giles of Brunswick.

There will be a sing in the afternoon and no evening service. Pastor is Rev. W.R. Connell.

Ricky and Denise Peebles attended the Washpot Cookout Festival in Garfield Saturday.

United Fellowship Baptist Church will have Bible School June 13-15 from 7-9 p.m. Call 578-6204 for transportation. Pastor is Rev. Steve Bryant.

Mrs. Eudene Peebles went to Murchison Funeral Home Thursday to pay her respects to David McCumbers. She went by the funeral home Sunday evening to pay her respects to Mrs. Edna “Bray” Davis.
