Melvin Holton, 71

POOLER—Mr. Melvin Holton, 71, died Sunday, Apri 24, 2005 at Hospice Savannah.

Mr. Holton was born in Treutlen County and had lived in Pooler since 1952. He retired from Union Camp after 42 years and was preceeded in death by his father, Romanus Holton and his brother Aldred Holton. Mr. Holton enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Jean Holton of Pooler; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia & Johnny Ray Lynn of Pooler, Tina and Ricky Beasley of Bloomingdale, Carmen Gray & Scott Schuman of Egypt and Karen and Eddie White of Pooler. 8 grandchildren, Keith Saxon II, Heather Simmons, Phillip Beasley, Justin , Ryan and Kendall Gray, Christopher, Kaitlin and Colt White; 5 great-grandchildren, Alex, Branden, Kaleigh, Haleigh and Cody; mother, Cuma Holton of Swainsboro; 2 sisters, Cebral Thigpen of Swainsboro and Cuby Dudley of Evans and several nieces.

Visitation is tonight, Wednesday, April 27, 6-8 p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, April 28 in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be at Hillcrest West Cemetery.
