Beecher attends training at Lake Lanier

Emanuel County Chief Deputy Joel Beecher recently attended the Georgia Sheriff’s Association specialized training for law enforcement officers on Lake Lanier. He was among 130 officers that participated in the conference, which emphasized highway safety initiatives and included training on issues relevant to the responsibilities of Georgia’s Office of Sheriff.

    A Louisville woman on Meadowlake Pkwy. reported a woman, whom she identified, threatened her.

    Melvin Holton, 71

    POOLER—Mr. Melvin Holton, 71, died Sunday, Apri 24, 2005 at Hospice Savannah.

    Mr. Holton was born in Treutlen County and had lived in Pooler since 1952. He retired from Union Camp after 42 years and was preceeded in death by his father, Romanus Holton and his brother Aldred Holton. Mr. Holton enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.
