Tyler Williams captures low medalist honors By ANDY CALLAWAY

Tyler Williams, junior golfer at David Emanuel Academy, fired a one over par 73 to capture low medalist honors at the Trinity Christian School Invitational Tournament in Dublin last week.

“This is a great accomplishment for Tyler,” said DEA Golf Coach Glenn Cardell. “There were 18 teams and over 90 players competing in this tournament”.

Sub-freshman Gavin Harper also made a strong showing as he shot 75 to finish fourth overall. As a team, DEA recorded a score of 339 to finish ninth. Adam Callaway at 89 and Lance Williamson at 102 rounded out the DEA team total.

Stratford Academy of Macon won the team competition with a score of 307. Bulloch Academy was second at 318 followed by First Presbyterian (325), Trinity (326), John Milledge (328), Edmund Burke (330), Westfield (334), and Windsor (336). Finishing behind DEA were Monroe (342), Frederica (345), Tattnall Square (353), Thomas Jefferson (356), Robert Toombs (363), Valwood (374), Trinity # 2 (377), Central Fellowship (388) and Brandon Hall (397).

In the first tournament of the year, DEA shot 341 on the Sapelo Hamack course. Gavin Harper’s 75 score was second overall led the Eagles in the five team tournament. Tyler Williams at 81, Jason Cochran at 92 and Lance Williamson at 93 rounded out the DEA total. In their next match at St Simons, Tyler Williams had a team low score of 79 as DEA struggled to a 392 team total.
