Tigers run over Hawks, 86-69

The Swainsboro boys basketball team scored a total of 86 points on the Golden Hawks of Washington on the evening of Nov. 23. Sophomore forward Jamail Turner led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Carlton Howard finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and two steals. Detronne Douglas completed the contest with 13 points and two steals. Neal David scored 11 points, 10 assists and five steals.
Tuesday, Nov. 30, the Tigers hosted the Burke County Bears. Swainsboro led most of the game, but came up short in overtime 84-78. Turner led the Tiger squad with 15 points. Douglas and Howard scored 12 points each. Derrick Smith finished the game with 10 points.
Friday, Dec. 3, the Tigers traveled to Twin City to play the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs. Regrettably, star forward Turner was not able to join Swainsboro, but his teammates prevailed 68-59. Leaders in points for Swainsboro were Howard with 14, Neal David 12 and Douglas 10 points. The Bulldog leaders were Nick Jackson with 19 points, Stephen Johnson 15 and Jeffrey Byrd finished the contest with a total of 14 points.
Saturday, Dec. 4, the Swainsboro team traveled to Louisville to face the Jefferson County Warriors. The Tigers did not play up to par in the first half, but after some motivation from Swainsboro Basketball Head Coach Leroy Jordan and company at half-time, the big cats tied the game during the second half from an 18-point deficit. Unfortunately, the young men of SHS lost by just one point, 58-57.
Tuesday, the Tigers will travel to Metter to face the orange and black Tigers. Game time is set for 7:45 p.m. Friday. SHS will play the Bears of Burke County in Waynesboro. Tip-off is set for 8:45 p.m. Come out and support your Tigers!
